Due to the risk of rockfall, the Salzachtal Street (B159) between Golling and Stegenwald (North of Werfen) is completely closed by order of the state geologist – also for cyclists and pedestrians!
Length of closure: Expected until mid-June 2019
It is recommended to switch to the railway. There are two connections per hour between Golling-Abtenau train station and Werfen train station, with bicycle transport. www.oebb.at (between Golling-Abtenau station and Tenneck station only one connection per hour).
The diversion route across the Lammer Valley (Scheffau – Abtenau – St. Martin on the Tennengebirge – Hüttau) is a very scenic alternative, with an additional 35 km and 450 metres of altitude to deal with.
