Among the hills of the morainic amphitheatre of the Tagliamento River and the plain

Cassacco is located about 15 km north of Udine among the hills of the morainic amphitheatre of the Tagliamento River and the plain crossed by the Soima creek. Here you can still admire an 18th-century watermill along the banks: Mulino Ferrant in Conoglano which has now become a restaurant.
In Cassacco you can find the 15th-century castle with the Assumption church; in the castle, there are valuable stone testimonies of the Roman age found in Aquileia and brought here in the 16th century. In the town square stands the neo-Gothic bell tower inaugurated in 1926.
On the other hand, in the town of Montegnacco, you can admire Villa Gallici Deciani, a Venetian villa built at the end of the 16th century.
For nature lovers we recommend a visit to the peat bog biotope of Cichignot near Raspano; the peat bog, covered with a thin layer of water for most of the year, has a great wealth of flora and fauna.
The municipal territory is crossed by historical-naturalistic ring roads to be covered on foot to admire the villages’ architectural and landscape beauties.
