Orchid village

The church of San Rocco is located on the homonymous hill in a picturesque place where there are still the remains of a romitorio.
Just on the edge of Osoppo’s old town the cycle trail runs through a territory blessed with many spots of outstanding natural beauty and interest, where very dry areas lie side by side with places bathed in clear water. This area is protected and is known as “Bars Springs”. Here you will find shallow brooks lined with willow and alder thickets. Wild orchids grow in its meadows, of which at least 30 species have been identified. They can be admired from April until June. Because of this abundance of orchids, in 2014 the town of Osoppo decided to adopt the nickname of “Orchid village”.
Along the way you will be crossing a stream known as “Mulino del Cucco” - the main watercourse - at which point the fish farm and the fly-fishing areas will come into full view.
Finally, you will be entering a former WW2 military airfield, which is now used as a flying school for ultra-light aircraft as well as properly equipped picnic grounds.
